Andalucia Masters - Recap
We were unable to recapture the magic of the Spanish open in the Costa del Sol as our only guy who was really in contention (Hillier) absolutely melted on Saturday and that was basically all she wrote for us.
If you go back to my post I said I was keeping it light because the course change was concerning me and thank god I did. It is never nice to basically have an 0-for (yes, I know Hillier snuck into the Top 20, but it really felt like we whiffed) but it happens and we only dropped 3.7u.
Commercial Bank Qatar Masters
The DP World Tour leaves Spain and heads down to Doha, Qatar for the last event before the DP World Tour playoffs. Similar to the FedEx Cup points on the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour has “Race to Dubai” points that will decide who proceeds to the playoffs in the next 2 weeks, who maintains their playing privileges1 and, for the first time, earns one of the 10 available PGA Tour cards2.
Those who travel to the Middle East to play in this tournament will, after a 2-year hiatus, be returning to Doha Golf Club’s Peter Harrdine-designed course, which plays to a par 72 across 7,400 yards.
The 2022 tournament was won by Ewen Ferguson who captured his first DP World Tour victory when he shot -7 to top Chase Hanna by 1 stroke. The 2021 edition saw 3rd favorite Antoine Rozner (25-1 odds) shoot -8 to top Gaganjeet Bhullar, Darren Fichardt, and Guido Migiozzi by 1 stroke, and the 2020 edition saw Jorge Campillo (-13) win by David Drysdale in a playoff.
All editions of this tournament, since its inception in 1998, have been played in Doha except for 2021 and 2020. When played in Doha, the record of -20 and 268 was shot by Paul Lawrie (1999) and Adam Scott (2008).
Given that there is no PGA Tour event this week, I am going to take a lot of shots here for the outright winner, and more than I normally do, to see if we can get a guy home at a big price. This obviously comes with some significant risk, but this is a pretty wide-open field and I think the odds reflect just that.
I am going with 6.1u of risk:

As always, I am using BetOnline and Bovada to pull these odds. I bet them as I write this so they are live within the 45 min or so of publication.
Good luck with all your action!
This is the top 100 excluding those who are previously exempt. The view is that will get it down to around 116 or 117 on the list.
The Top 10 who do not already have their PGA Tour cards will get their card for next year. Here is the latest list!
