World Wide Technology Championship - Recap
Okay, let’s start with the good….50-1 winner is AMAZING, but I picked 3 possible outright bets last week and they were:
Henley 50-1 - Won the tournament with a course record
Harman 33-1 - came in solo second
Scottie Scheffler 9-1 came in tied for 3rd
Edit note (11/18 5:15 pm): The original version of the performance reporting did not include the hedging loss in the top table but did in all the rest so there was a discrepancy. That has now been fixed.
Look, I have honestly never done the golf trifecta (yeah, that is what I am calling it) so I am really pleased with myself. We also had small profits in the T10 and T20 buckets as well, though that was mostly thanks to Scottie being NBA-Jam fire-coming-from-his-butt hot on Sunday.
I have been saying I want to keep this place free and that means killing what I eat! We had a huge win this week so please DM me or visit my Twitter and throw a tip at your guy by hitting this button!
So far we are up 13.4u during the start of the wrap-around calendar for a very healthy 24% ROI, but let’s talk about what is making me unhappy. Take a look at the table above (3rd table) and look at the Head-to-Heads. These often kept us afloat last year while we ground weekly profits and have clearly not been good enough so far with a 14-16 record for a 4.5u loss. This tells me 1 of 2 things:
I have completely lost the plot and should abandon these all together
These early tournaments are filled with many less skilled players so there will naturally be more variance in their play.
I personally believe the latter is the reason for the performance, so until we get to the Hawaii swing post-Jan 1, You will see me dial back the risk I am taking on the Head-to-Heads.

Cadence Bank Houston Open
The PGA Tour comes back from their overseas trips by coming back across the US-Mexico border to visit Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course in Houston, TX. This public course plays to a par 70 over a distance of ~7,450 yards.
While this event can trace back to Byron Nelson winning the Houston Open over Ben Hogan in 1946, it has only been hosted at this redesigned course since 20201. Those last two editions were won by Carlos Ortiz (-13, a 2-stroke victory over DJ and Hideki) and Jason Kokrak (-10, a 2-stroke victory over Scheffler and Kevin Tway).
This field is honestly deeper than I expected so I am okay expanding a little further than I originally expected, but that is only because the calculations I rely upon finds a bunch of value in some names I really like. Let’s get to this week’s card (about 7.8u of risk):
Outright:
0.5u on Tony Finau +2000
0.25u on Taylor Pendrith +5000
0.25u on Keith Mitchell +6600
0.25u on Dean Burmester +6600
T10 (0.25u on each):
Taylor Pendrith +440
Dean Burmester +540
T20
1u on Tony Finau +100
0.5u on Dean Brumester +250
0.25u on Keith Mitchell +220
0.25u on Sebastian Munoz +300
Matchups
1.38u on Tony Finau over Hideki Matsuyama -138
1.065u on Scottie Scheffler over Aaron Wise -213
1u on Scottie Scheffler over Sam Burns -200
0.645u on Taylor Pendrith over Andrew Putnam -129
As always, I am using BetOnline and Bovada to pull these odds. I bet them as I write this so they are live within the 30 min or so of publication.
Daily Fantasy
These will be back one we do the Hawaiian swing.
Good luck with all your action!
The course hosted the Houston Open in 1947 and 1951 through 1963 but the course was fully redesigned in 1995.
