RSM Classic - Recap
The RSM Classic seems like it was so long ago, but it finished out our super exciting 2022. It was a smaller tournament, and I went with an “aim small, miss small” and well we missed small. Nothing too much to really talk about.
The more notable thing is really the 3rd table above that shows how amazing the start of the wrap-around calendar has been for us.
Gamblers Paradise Discord
I know I push Gamblers Paradise discord in all my content and, while I think it is pretty great for every sport, I think it is the absolute best for golf. Here is what you get:
Active talk about the tournament as it happens
Posted tee times for each round
Many weeks, including this one, early picks
and (I think this one is the best) the ability to send me golf matchups and odds that you like that are posted at the book that you personally use and have me run it through my model and give you the results!!
Seriously! Come hang out with us!
Sentry Tournament of Champions
The PGA Tour starts back up with its West Coast swing1. As per usual, it all starts in Hawaii on the Plantation Course at Kapalua. This course plays to a par 73 (yes, this is unusual) across a stunning ~7,600 yards!
This event had been the opening tournament of the PGA tour calendar for 27 years before the PGA tour changed to the wrap-around calendar. Since then it has been the unofficial start to the season as this is really the start of the full-field big-money deeper tournaments. As can be assumed by the name, this is a somewhat limited field that is focused primarily on winners from last year’s calendar as well as some additions (e.g., the 30 who made the TOUR Championship)
The 2022 edition was won by Cam Smith with a course record of -34 (1 stroke back in 2nd was Jon Rahm), 2021’s edition was won in a playoff where Harris English topped Joaquin Niemann (both shot -25) and 2020 saw JT win his 2nd ToC beating Patrick Reed and defending champion Xander Schauffele in a playoff (all shot -14).
I am keeping this week’s card a bit targeted with about 6.4u of risk:
Outright:
0.5u on Scottie Scheffler +900
0.5u on Xander Schauffele +1100
0.5u on Tony Fianu +1600
T10:
1.4u on Scottie Scheffler -140
Matchups
1.57u on Sungjae Im over Tom Kim -157
0.66u on Sungjae Im over Collin Morikawa -132
0.635u on Willy Z over Hideki Matsuyama -1272
0.6u on Cameron Young over Viktor Hovland -120
As always, I am using BetOnline and Bovada to pull these odds.
Daily Fantasy
Alright, this will be back next week with a full field
Good luck with all your action!
The PGA tour start’s its main calendar with a West Coast swing (2 in Hawaii, 4 in Cali, 1 in Arizona), then it heads to its Florida swing.
Adding a footnote here as I am being far more careful with this one than my numbers would indicate as both of these guys had injuries at the end of the FedEx Cup Playoffs last year with Willy Z being REALLY hurt so I am reducing the amount of risk I am going with here even though my numbers say this should be a 1.27u risk or even 2.54u.
