Horizon Irish Open - Recap
What an Irish Open for us!!!! Honestly, it did not look good from the start, then we had a pretty bad Friday where we lost Pepperell and Scott to the cut. We get to Saturday and thankfully Fox makes a bit of a run and gives us some hope going into Sunday.
Well at the turn of the final round we had Fox on the lead, but the son of the former all blacks1 player did not get home for us. Nope, that was the Swede Vincent Norrman at 50-1! Norrman put up the round of the day, got to the clubhouse at -14, and then watched everyone pee down their legs from the safety of the practice range.
It is so nice to find a winner on the DPWT as well as see my new strategy for betting start to pay off! Let’s hope this continues!
BMW PGA Championship
The DP World Tour stays in the British Isles going from Ireland over to Surrey, England. The players will be traveling to experience the Harry Colt-designed and Ernie Els-updated West Course of Wentworth Club which hosts its 38th consecutive playing of the BMW PGA Championship and will play to a par 72 across 7,270 yards.
The 2022 Championship saw Shane Lowry (16-1 odds) shoot -17 to make me look good on Twitter and beat, the two tournament favorites, Rory McIlroy (6-1) and John Rahm (8-1) by 1 stroke. The 2021 edition saw Billy Horschel (30-1 odds) shoot -19 and top Kiradech Aphibarnrat (200-1), Laurie Canter (150-1), and Jamie Donaldson (125-1) by 1 stroke, and the 2020 edition saw Tyrrell Hatton (-19) win as the 3rd favorite, a 16-1 shot, beating Victor Perez (60-1) by 4 strokes.
The course record of 62 was shot by Robert Karlsson (2010), Thomas Bjorn (2014) and Alex Noren (2017). The 72-hole record for this tournament at Wentworth was shot in 2015 by Benny An when he shot -21 (267 strokes).
Given the elevated purse and point towards the Race to Dubai, this tournament is a big one for international players and you can see that in the relative strength of this 138-man field, including all 12 Euro Ryder Cup participants.

I will personally be betting all these guys FRL. I am also not likely to take a ton of parlay shots. Maybe one on Hovland as an insurance policy.
