Zozo Championship - Recap
Well, that was a wild tournament. After Round 1, we had some guys a bit back but decently positioned. Then Round 2 got windy and Hossler was one of the few people in the field who handled it well and got himself on the lead going after 36 holes.
Round 3 gave Hossler a ton of chances to get on the lead, but he never seemed to be able to get going and we saw Morikawa climb back into contention and then Round 4 saw Collin put the pedal to the metal and run away with it.
I know some folks took exception to my comments that Tom Kim backed into the win last week, but this week is a good example of the opposite of that. Collin absolutely grabbed that tournament and blew everyone away.
That all said, I would never apologize for landing 3 guys into the top 10, and 5 into the Top 20, but alas we lost 1.7u. Let’s see if we can hit the WWT a 2nd year in a row!
World Wide Technology Championship
While the PGA Tour took a week off it is staying international with a trip south of the border to Los Cabos, Baja California to visit the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal1 within the Diamnote Cabo San Lucas resort; it is Tiger’s first-ever course designed by Tiger. This course will play to a par 72 over a distance of 7,450 yards2.
The thing that is noteworthy with this course, as everyone is pointing out, is that it has some wild elevation changes and every hole is either uphill or downhill. The belief is that this course will favor length off the tee and around-the-green should be relatively easy.
The 2022 WWT saw us cash a 50-1 ticket on Russell Henley’s first PGA Tour victory in 4.5 years when shot -23 to beat Brian Harma (who we also had at 33-1) by 4 strokes. The 2021 edition saw Viktor Hovland (18-1 odds) capture the 2nd of his back-to-back Mayakoba wins when he shot -23 to beat Carlos Ortiz (60-1), and the 2020 edition saw Hovland (-20) capture his 2nd PGA Tour title, this time as a 20-1 shot, when he bested Aaron Wise by 1 stroke.
It is interesting that the PGA Tour flip-flopped the order of the WWT and the Butterfield Bermuda from last year to this year.
Last year, we had a 9.6 unit profit (82% ROI) mostly driven by Henley’s win, but we did have profits across Top 10, and Top 20’s, but got my butt kicked on head-to-head match-ups!
While this tournament used to boast really great field, unfortunately, as will be our expectation for most of the fall calendar, this field lacks high-level names in the 132-man field with only 5 OWGR top 50 players3 and 7 who are in the FedEx Cup 504 (full field list).
This a new course, but there is no DPWT tournament this week so we are taking a bit of a swag with 8u of risk:

Daily Fantasy
For those unfamiliar with Daily Fantasy, this is a game you can play (I use Draft Kings) where they give you a budget and use allocate that budget to golfers and use their scoring criteria to try and win money. The dollar values you see below are the “salaries” for each golfer I select. You can mirror what I do, do your own thing, or do some combo and as always I am just showing what I am doing, and is good for me.
Let’s take a crack for some small action:
Hossler 9,900
Bhatia 9,200
Thompson 8,300
Tarren 7,600
Mike Kim 7,500
Lantro Griffin 7,200
Good luck with all your action!
This tournament had been played at the Greg Normal-designed Mayakoba for a number of years, but with that course turning to the dark side (aka LIV) the PGA Tour moved this tournament.
The Sports Gambling Podcast has a fantastic course breakdown that I highly recommend reading.
Cam Young, Sahith Theegala, Lucas Glover, Emilian Grillo, and Chris Kirk.
The 5 above, along with Adam Svensson and Andrew Putnam
I realllllllly think Aberg might win this and have had this circled on my calendar for him to win, but sadly his odds are not bettable for me until it gets to 12-1. I am also likely going to look for a way to get some Hossler action via a parlay.
If you do not follow Michael Kim on Twitter, you are missing out. He is a fantastic follow for a ton of behind-the-scenes information on what it is like to be a professional golfer.
