What an amazing year it has been! A saying that most parents know / have heard is that “the days are long, but the years are short” and that is true with my kids, and it is true with gambling.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of you who have signed up and trust in me and this substack. It is crazy to think how much this place has grown in the last 12 months and all that we have been through, both good and bad, ups and downs.
Before I get into the stats, I really wanted to just thank you all again being subscribers (both paying and free). It has really been an honor to be here with you! I hope you and your family have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

2022’s Accomplishments
This year has been wild! As I said back when the substack turned 1, I really never imagined how many people would sign up for it and how this would grow. Let’s talk about that evolution - in the last year:
The number of subscribers has increased by over 350%
We launched the Gamblers Paradise Discord as a place for folks to hang out and chat about gambling
I formally added golf to our betting card and it has been a huge success (stats below)
We have also had some horse betting and guest picks
Expanded the non-betting content to include things like a summer reading list, gambling lessons learned, and profiles on famous gamblers.
If you told me this time last year, I would be doing all that while turning out the results I have, I would have thought you were nuts.
Let’s talk about those results! In 2022, those who followed my betting strategies cashed in big time (dollar values based on $100 per unit):
In the NFL - We have had an awful regular season this year so unfortunately these stats are not nearly what I hoped they would be as we are down about 21u ($2,090). Make sure you check out this week’s picks as we try to start the new year right!
In the NBA - While we are just getting this season underway, we have seen fantastic success during the calendar year of 2022. How good? We have cashed tickets in excess of 42u of profit ($4,271)
In Golf - we started a bit slow with the failure of the first iteration of my PGA Tour model, but I took a deep breath, tore it down and rebuilt it. Since then we have done almost nothing but cash winners. Over the calendar year of 2022 my PGA Tour picks brought in over 67 units of profit ($6,773)1 and that doesn't include the other winners I have put on twitter and discord. With the PGA Tour kicking things back off this week in Hawaii, make sure you are fully prepped with my recently published Golf Refresher.
So yes, NFL has sucked big time, but if you have been with me all year and followed every single bet I put out you would have made over 89 units ($8,954) of profit.
2023 Plans
Thankfully my personal life has continued to be successful in 2022, but that means I will likely need to pull back a bit on some of the content this year as I am being asked to take on a fair bit of more responsibility.
While this is subject to change, I wanted to cover what I am planning this year:
Gamblers Paradise Discord - Nothing should change as this should still be an amazing home for folks to enjoy talking about sports betting and watching games together
Paid subscriptions - I am going to continue to try my best to keep this place free for everyone but I am going to continue to look for ways to bring some extra value to those who do pay for the substack such as getting my golf/NBA picks earlier than everyone else and then re-releasing them for free later in the day
NFL - I commit to getting picks out through the Super Bowl, but anything past that is up in the air for a number of reasons and none of them are related to the performance and almost entirely based on the amount of time this takes each week2. This might transition to more of what my NBA content looks like where it is just output from the model with little to no commentary, but that remains to be seen as we have lots of time until the fall.
NBA - I have said from the get-go that I will do my best on continuing to deliver these, but I am not sure these will be an everyday thing for the whole season
PGA Tour - I will still have these pretty much weekly as I love these and they are relatively easy to do (when compared to my NFL weekly posts and the daily grind of the NBA)
Horse Racing - This content will almost certainly get cut back. I will try and make sure I have action for the triple crown and some other huge race weekends, but the run of the mill Friday cards are likely a thing of the past3
Guest posts - Well, that is sorta up to the guest posters, but will look to see if Myk can keep coming back for UFC PPV’s
I want to thank you all again for the believe you all have continue to show and the support of this Substack. I also GREATLY appreciate those who subscribe to the $50/year or the $5/month voluntary payments. That reallllllly helps defray the costs I have of running this place.
As I believe in radical transparency this actually includes the losses from the V1.0 model. The v2.0 model is up 82.7u ($8,273) in 2022 alone which would bring the total profit over 104 units ($10,454)
Honestly, not trying to woe is me, but I think you all really do not know the time and effort that goes into those weekly newsletters
If you are someone who wants / needs horse action on a more consistent / regular basis, I recommend checking out my guy Dennis Trusty who puts out a ton of great content at a very affordable price.
